Does Site speed affect your Google Ranking?

Google is all about satisfying their customers, and everything that they do is to improve your experience when you're searching for whatever it is you want. Google created some internal studies which proved without doubt that the faster the site the more likely a user is going to spend time there.... we all know what its like when you've got to wait for a page to load, its frustrating and 9 times out of 10 you'll close it down and try another.

As a result site speed is now included in the Google algorithm and whilst it is still not as important as site relevance is still something that you should take seriously, as even if your website can be found it probably won't convert if it isn't fast enough.

There are some tools that you can use to check your site speed; page speed, is a firefox/Firebug add on that will evaluate your web pages and then give you some ideas on how to improve it.
